Counselling for Children under the age of 12 is offered by psychologists who specialize in treating children and in a space designed just for them! Though children's counselling is designed for children, the first couple of sessions are attended by parents/guardians without their child. Please book a meet and greet first. This will give you a chance to find out about the services offered, what you can expect from children's counselling, and to ensure that it is a fit for what you are looking for. After a meet and greet, the next session will be an intake for you and/or your child's other parent. This is the session where paperwork is completed and you can share what you are concerned about and what your hopes are for your child. During that session, a plan for moving forward with your child will be co-constructed with the psychologist.

Please note:
1) In most cases, the consent of both parents is required for a child to participate in counselling. This is something you will discuss with the psychologist at the meet and greet session.
2) Clearview Counselling does not provide formal assessments (including psychoeducational, parenting, or custody/access assessments) or participate in court proceedings.

If you have any questions, please contact Karlynn at karlynn@clearviewcounselling.org or 403-869-5632.

Couple's Counselling

Couples counselling is for any couple who would like support in enhancing the quality of their relationship. Whether you have challenges to address, are preparing for a transition together, or would like help to make a good thing even better, we can help!

Family Counselling

Family counselling allows members of a family to access support together. The structure and focus of family counselling depends on the concerns and dynamics of the family. With this in mind, we require a meet and greet session with one or all of the adults in the family to ensure we can co-create a plan that will work for your family prior to getting started.

Supervision/Consultation

Supervision and consultation is available to provisional psychologists and other mental health practitioners. A supervision agreement must be in place prior to booking. Please contact Anita at 587-436-2920 or anita@clearviewcounselling.org with questions and/or to initiate a supervision agreement.

I am a registered provisional psychologist with a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. I am also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA). In the past I have worked alongside pediatricians and physicians, as well as in various non-for-profit agencies. In these positions I have had the opportunity to work with adults, adolescents, and children.

I have experience supporting clients with trauma, parenting concerns, adoption (I am an adoptive parent), OCD, children/teens with ADHD, grief/loss, depression, those experiencing life transitions, self-esteem challenges, anxiety, and stress. I have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), including additional training in EMDR for children. I also have additional training in play-based techniques through Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute and the Alberta Play Therapy Association.

My greatest desire is that you feel heard and supported. I work with my clients to explore patterns of behavior and thoughts that are keeping them stuck, and to reconnect to a more balanced and joyful self. My priority is to provide a warm and welcome space. I use a collaborative and integrative approach, using elements of Emotion Focused Therapy, Play Therapy (for children), Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neufeld - Attachment-Based Development Approach, DBT, and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). I want to build on existing strengths while creating a plan to help you reach your goals.

When I am not in the office I can be found out walking in nature, paddleboarding, spending time with my three teenagers (or my entire family), playing with my three dogs, reading a book or taking a new course.

Please reach out for a no cost meeting with me either in-person or virtually.

Please note at this time Karlynn is not accepting couples into her practice.
